Location : Basic hotel, a bit dated in the Jingan area. Tucked away in the quiet residential quarters away from the major mall and traffic, the location is surrounded by little shops, massage places, restaurants and cafes. Rooms are good size, bathroom clean but a bit tired. Hotel has also no free wifi, you have to pay for it ! Overall I would say a convenient hotel for its price and friendly location to stay. 88 Yongshou Road , People Square and South Bund Huangpu, Shanghai, China    Location : New Harbour Service Apartments is a modern 4-star property in the heart of Shanghai near People’s Square, Nanjing Road and places of interest. Appartments are quite spacious, though a bit old-fashioned, comfortable, with room, living room, kitchen and bathroom well equipped. Nothing exceptional here but nothing overly horrible either. The kitchen was basic with not much cooking ustensils, furniture a little old but ok. Staff friendly and accommodating despite the language barrier. Hotel amenities also include a small indoor pool, a fitness centre and sauna. Considering the price and the central location a pretty good value for money. Jin Mao Tower 88 Century Boulevard Pudong, Lujiazui and Expo Pudong, Shanghai, China    Location : Nestled in between IFC mall and Shanghai tower... a quite sight at night. The view over Pudong area takes your breath out. Room quality is good. Washroom ok but too small in my room. Subway not too far away. Good hotel service. Staff generally friendly and helpful. Indoor pool and large fitness center with lots of machines. Pudong Area is considered a nice place for business. Room Tip: ask for high floor riverfront. 399 Nanjing West Road, People Square and South Bund Huangpu, Shanghai, China    Location : Centrally located near People's Square and walking distance of shopping center and places of interest, the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai meets all the marks. The hotel is just simply great. It beats the Portman, the Four Seasons or Ritz. Rooms are spacious, nice with luxurious ambience, great views and modern amenities, comfy bed with typical soft bedsheets and bathroom nice big perfect to relax after a long day! The hotel has also numerous bars/restaurants offering great service. On the top of the 59th floor the executive lounge and from the lobby on the 38th floor a beautiful views of the city. With a easy walk to the Bund and near Nanjing Road, the heart of the shopping district and other tourist attractions, a good place for visiting Shanghai and enjoy. A landmark highly recommended. 789 Nanjing Road East, People Square and South Bund Huangpu, Shanghai, China    Location : Another top 5 hotel in the heart of Shanghai. Situated close to Nanjing walking street, the hotel has all, nice rooms, great pool, great location with a lot of restaurants and shopping Centres are within walking distance. The Bund is only 15 mins by foot. Rooms are all cozy, lovely decorated, spacious and clean. Really luxurious. Big windows in the rooms, that start around the 34th floor. So everyone has panoramic view of the city. Really stunning. Bed great, big bathroom and showers. Close to many subway entrance. The hotel is in one of the tallest building in the area. 12F, Paramount Metropolis, 1728 West Nanjing Road, JingAn and SHA Exhibition Center, Shanghai, China    Location : Great value deal for a 5 star hotel centrally located in Shanghai. Very comfortable, friendly staff, quite rooms, excellent wifi connection. The only thing missing at the hotel was a bar, but there’s plenty of great bars in Shanghai anyway. Good shopping and restaurants all around the hotel. Except the hard-to-find entrance (as the hotel and reception start from the 12th floor of the tower building, so not clearly visible from the street side), I would definitely recommend to anyone. 88 Nanjing Road (W), People Square and South Bund Huangpu, Shanghai, China    Location : Superb in so many ways regarding facilities, room furnishings and location. The hotel is centrally located in People's Square, the center of Shanghai. Everything is available in a short time: Bund, Yu Yuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, main streets to the Pearl Tower, as well as Happy Massages or the heavy duty (expensive) shopping on Nanjing Road.... And the subway is just across street from the hotel. The restaurant on the 45th floor is splendid and the view is incredible. Good WiFi and Friendly helpful staff. A comfortable base. 505 Nanjing Road East, People Square and South Bund Huangpu, Shanghai, China    Location : The Sofitel Shanghai Hyland is very nice hotel in a top location in the Middle of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Road, which is really great when lit up at night! The hotel is not the most modern, shows some signs of age but has friendly staff. Rooms are good, not big, but clean, comfortable, well appointed. The Bund river, Peoples Square and night life are all within walking distance. Near street ladies and massage parlors in north part of Nanjing Road and very close to Xin Tian Di. Also a few meters from the subway station which can bring you everywhere. With plenty eating options arround and a good location for my small Enterprise, overall I would say a good base and nice and affordable place to stay and play. Recommanded ! It is a 50-minute drive from the Pudong International Airport and just 20 minutes from Hongqiao Airport. Sightseeing is recommended for first time visitors, with scenic historical and cultural sites nearby, including the Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre, People’s Square, and East Nanjing Road. More guest friendly hotels in Shanghai center Location : Not a 4-stars but rather a medium range hotel in Shanghai. The location is not fantastic but quiet. The hotel is over 20 years old itself but still quite well maintained. The room are clean but do need renovation, especially bathroom. The room facility needs upgrade again. The pool was under renovation druring my stay and I'm not sure if it's in use by now. Nevertheless it's quite a pity for a listed 4 star hotel. Not far from center of Shanghai and shopping malls. 1359 Jinqiao Road,Pudong New Area, New Int'l Expo Center Pudong, Shanghai, China   Location : Hotel is situated close to the new exhibition centre Pudong. Shops and restaurants are close by. The rooms are meet and tidy. Breakfast is easy or though not the best of western food. There is a bus service to the exhibition centre which is better than chancing a taxi. 838 Dongfang Road/Weifang Road, Lujiazui and Expo Pudong, Shanghai, China    Location : This Courtyard Hotel is a serviceable business hotel, 30 minutes walk to the Financial District in Pudong Lujiazui Area. Rooms are spacious, no glamour but clean. Good service and decent restaurant. You can find metro lines no. 2, 4, 6 and 9 station in Century Avenue is within 7-minutes walk. There's also shopping pubs and restaurants within walking distance. I would recommand this hotel only for business travellers with a high floor room booking due to the traffic and the new constructions. Location : This hotel is situated at Century Avenue slightly away from the busy CBD of Pudong, in the finance district. The facade is bit old, but the interior decor and rooms are very well maintained. The room and bathroom are spacious, amenities complete, elevators fast as well. Quite comfortable bed and fabulous turn down service. The only downside was the TV with less superior broadcast quality and quite few English channels. Good thing is that major news channel like CNN are available. Otherwise easy access to taxis and an ATM in the lobby and a stone throw away from the Metro Subway Line 2,4,6 and 9 in Century Ave Station.
